Hello everyone, I am currently planning the setup of my bathroom and would like to know the best way to use IKEA Billy shelves there. I understand that Billy is typically used as a bookcase, but I am looking for practical ideas to use it for bathroom items such as towels, personal care products, and maybe decorative elements. I am especially interested in how to deal with moisture and space limitations, whether special treatments or specific shelving options are advisable, and generally what to consider when planning to use Billy shelves in a bathroom. Does anyone have practical experience or tips on how to make the shelving both functional and visually appealing in that space?

I think this should be viewed with some caution, especially in a damp area like the bathroom.

I believe that sums it up well. No matter how well you treat the shelf, a bathroom is not an ideal place for Billy.

However, I find it an interesting option if the shelf is placed only in the drier areas or combined with well-ventilated alcoves. It might also be worth considering combining Billy shelving units with metal frames to improve durability.

Personally, I would lean towards furniture specifically designed for damp environments, but for a temporary or budget-friendly solution, I find Billy acceptable with certain precautions.
