Hello everyone, I am facing the challenge of dismantling my Ikea PAX wardrobe as space-efficiently as possible for an upcoming move. My main question is: which method or sequence of disassembly will result in the most compact components that can be easily transported and stored afterward? I’m particularly interested in not only taking it apart quickly but also ensuring that nothing gets damaged and the parts remain easy to store. Are there any proven tips or best practices for taking apart the PAX, especially regarding the large frames and the shelves? I would appreciate detailed advice and personal experiences.

Be sure to completely disconnect all wood composite components before transport, especially the connections between side walls and floors. Otherwise, they can press and shift when stacked.

For transport, it can help to place thick blankets between the individual panels to avoid scratches and pressure marks.

If possible, transport the largest parts standing up rather than lying down – this minimizes the risk of breakage.

Ideally, I would like to stack the large panels in a space-saving way.

Stack the panels flat and flush on top of each other, with the back panel at the bottom, then the side panels, and the top panels on top.

Make sure that no screws or fittings are protruding to avoid any scratches.
