Hello everyone,
I've been reading a lot about robot vacuum cleaners with mopping functions. Of course, it would be great to come home and have everything clean.
Who has one of these devices, and which models are good or where is it not worth the money? It’s probably tricky to decide because of advertising and such. But maybe it’s a topic of general interest. My partner has a child who is allergic to house dust. It’s a huge time commitment! Can a device like this actually help?

We have a RoboRock S5 Pro vacuum robot. It takes a little over an hour to clean the 130 square meters (1,400 square feet) and still has about 65% battery left after that. It works perfectly, but due to its design, it can’t reach every tiny corner. The small side brush is a bit too short. Otherwise, it doesn’t move randomly; it first scans the entire area with laser mapping, then cleans the edges, and finally goes over everything very methodically, row by row. It is said to also mop, but we have never used that feature. The suction power is very good, and carpets are no problem (it automatically increases to a higher power level). Dog hair from our little troublemaker dachshund is also easily handled. The noise level is acceptable, and the app works well.
Like with any vacuum robot, you quickly learn that no small objects should be left lying around... it’s almost like having a small child. It also doesn’t like phone charging cables very much.

We have always had pets, and now we can't imagine living without a robot vacuum (with two dogs, we vacuum daily).
We started with a Roomba, the first model around 10 years ago? (over €500)
After about 5 years, small parts broke that couldn’t be replaced (today this would be possible with a 3D printer).
We found it so frustrating to have to throw away an entire robot that we tried different models, like Xiaomi, etc.
Now we have settled on Medion. It’s not particularly smart but it does what it’s supposed to at a moderate price (€100/150, depending on the model). We have two of them and are satisfied.
We also have a Braava (a Roomba wet mop robot). It works well, but you constantly have to change the mop pad for it to really clean properly. I wouldn’t necessarily buy it again.

Thanks to you all at this point. I admittedly had doubts about its effectiveness, but those can apparently be dispelled.
It is certainly also interesting for dust allergies.

Since I once heard a radio report about a robot vacuum spreading the dog’s diarrhea all over the ground floor while the owner was away, I only let the device run when we’re at home.
Cleaning it is a bit dusty (no surprise), but the rubber wheels perform well and are easy to clean from dog hair.

Laugh and thanks! Just for your information, I don’t have any pets, the children are grown up, and my wife is gone! So it’s just the robot and me!!!!
