Hello everyone,
I've been reading a lot about robot vacuum cleaners with mopping functions. Of course, it would be great to come home and have everything clean.

Who has one of these devices, and which models are good or where is it not worth the money? It’s probably tricky to decide because of advertising and such. But maybe it’s a topic of general interest. My partner has a child who is allergic to house dust. It’s a huge time commitment! Can a device like this actually help?

I/we have had a robot vacuum cleaner from iRobot for years. In between, we upgraded to a newer model. I am really impressed by it; they vacuum very well. However, we would never bring a model with a camera into our home because of privacy concerns. I have not yet used a vacuum that also mops simultaneously. I am rather skeptical about combo products, especially because vacuuming needs to be done daily, but mopping does not.

...I have a question about that as well: is a robotic vacuum suitable when small children are playing in the room?

Never going without my robot vacuum again!
You’ll come to love it and only then realize how much dust and dirt it picks up every day!

I wouldn’t bother with a robot mop. When mopping, you often rinse the cloth. How is the robot supposed to do that? Basically, it just spreads the dirt around...

We also have an iRobot. I can only recommend it.
But of course, that’s probably a matter of preference, like Apple vs. Android.

There is no single "best" robot vacuum. It needs to suit the apartment and furnishings. I have been using robot vacuums for over 14 years.
The advantage is that it can vacuum every day.
Cantilever chairs are problematic. Most robot vacuums struggle with these. Of course, there shouldn’t be any toys lying around or shoelaces sticking out of shoes...
iRobot/Roomba is good but also expensive. Alternatively, Neato.

Can recommend Xiaomi. We have been using it for 2.5 years. For example, I raised the couch on ice hockey pucks, so the vacuum can easily go underneath. We always lift the chairs as well, even though they are not cantilever chairs. We don’t want to live without it anymore, but we are also curious how it will be once we have a child.
