Hello dear house building forum,

I wanted to attach a metal rail about 5 cm (2 inches) wide and 74 cm (29 inches) long at three points on the cavity ceiling. I drilled into the ceiling and saw that there is about 4-5 cm (1.5-2 inches) of material before the cavity begins. The anchors need to withstand about 150 kg (330 lbs) of tensile load. Do you know which type of anchors would be best to use here?

Looking forward to your answers

Regards, Tobias

Hello!

What kind of "material" is your ceiling made of?

Not only the anchors, but also the screws and the surrounding structure of your ceiling!

Edit: Each screw 150 kg (330 lbs)?

The ceiling is a Kaiserdecke (beam and block ceiling). I also saw some thin reinforcement when I was drilling. So, concrete or stone :/

Not together

Personally, I would feel a bit uneasy hanging 150kg (330 lbs) on such a hollow ceiling, but then again, I’m just an amateur.

My recommendation for anchors is always the company Fischer. They also offer special metal hollow wall anchors. The load capacity chart is hidden under Downloads.

That clearly sounds like a swing or something similar. Avoid it, as dynamic forces will develop, which will almost certainly cause the ceiling to fail. Even if it is statically fixed (similar to a lamp), it will still be very critical.
