I will soon receive 240 Thuja Smaragd plants and plan to plant them. The plants will be 20–30 cm (8–12 inches) tall.
Later, they are supposed to form a hedge about 100 meters (330 feet) long.
How can I irrigate them?
I already use a cistern with a pump and garden hose, and I would connect the irrigation system there.
What is a good system to use?
Are drip irrigation tubes recommended for this?
Does anyone have experience with irrigation and can offer advice?
Thank you very much for your answers.

Hello,
We are planning to plant various types of vegetation along a total 30 m (98 feet) long embankment, using three rows of drip irrigation tubing.
For a hedge, where plants are placed every 50 cm (20 inches) or so (or how closely are these cemetery trees planted?), I would prefer a system that waters each plant individually. This would mean having a long main line with small mini drip tubes branching off every 50 cm (20 inches).
Best regards,
Andreas

HilfeHilfe9 Apr 2018 15:54Hello!
We planted about 180 Thuja Emerald green trees, and during a heatwave, we lost around 50 of them (due to lack of knowledge).
At the beginning, it’s all about watering, watering, watering—especially when it gets warmer.
Ideally, give each tree about 10 liters (2.6 gallons) every 2-3 days.
We used a soaker hose (you can get these cheaply at Ebas) and laid it around the base of the trees. We also installed a digital water meter from Gardena to monitor water consumption.
Last year (the third year), the watering phase was over, and the trees developed beautifully.
I would probably avoid fertilizing because the sun combined with fertilizer might damage the trunk.

Yes, I want the beautiful cemetery arborvitae.
They will be planted 40cm (16 inches) apart. What should I search for online?
@HilfeHilfe
Does this soaker hose release water along the entire length? Or do you have to attach some kind of nozzles, like one for each plant?
