We are currently renovating our house and want to switch to a heat pump heating system.
Can you give me tips on the most efficient system?
And which manufacturer would you recommend?
Thanks
Best regards, Richard

Hello,
In existing buildings, there are usually bigger obstacles and possibly limitations. Planning a new build, on the other hand, is almost a piece of cake.
Heat pumps require specific conditions; if these are not met, you might end up with a very expensive money pit!
Salespeople and marketing-driven charlatans usually see this very differently. 😡
The idea that you just remove the existing heat generator, install a heat pump, and everything will be fine is naïve and only benefits the seller or manufacturer.
Best regards.

richard78 schrieb:A reliable answer to this is hardly possible => see above. The question about the manufacturer is therefore initially completely secondary.

richard7810 Jun 2012 15:39Well, it’s a heated area of about 250m² (2700 sq ft) with underfloor heating. The house will get new windows with insulated glazing and 15cm (6 inches) of insulation. The roof is, of course, insulated as well.
According to general rules of thumb, this would mean a heating load of around 10kW if I’m not mistaken...
On top of that, there’s hot water demand for 3 people.
Best regards, richard

...So according to rule-of-thumb calculations, that would mean about 10kW heating load if I’m not mistaken... Plus hot water for 3 people. Rule-of-thumb calculations are of limited value and were mostly created by salespeople because proper expertise for exact assessment and sizing is lacking ;-) This might be sufficient for an open campfire, but probably not for a heat pump system :-) Best regards
