Hey,

has anyone faced this question before or assigned it differently during a new build? Because it’s (much) cheaper that way. So that the general contractor roofer first completes their part, and then another roofer reopens the required area to install the double casement window?

Or is that complete nonsense? Although a double casement window can also be installed much later, since you would assign the job to a suitable contractor anyway.

Looking forward to hearing your experiences.

Thanks!

Nonsense. It only gets truly cheaper if you do it yourself or have it done unofficially. All the extra effort and the issues with interfaces/warranty are not worth the savings. Not an option for me.

Sometimes ideas "outside the box" are worthwhile. In this case, probably not.

I just received a call regarding an inquiry, and I’m surprised at how large the price difference is for the same job. Same window including installation. A savings of just over €300 gross (about $330). I would know better ways to use that money.

I find it quite risky: for example, if there are any leaks, no one would be responsible. This could easily cost much more than 300€...

This means the area is considered accepted, and if something goes wrong—at worst, even during the construction phase—the responsibility will be passed back and forth. I would definitely be willing to pay the €300.
