Hi everyone,
We are considering whether to install a trench drain in the ground in front of our garage or not. The driveway has a slope of 2% toward the garage, and everything is paved with eco-friendly pavers. Originally, we planned to install a trench drain as protection against heavy rain. The site manager said this is unnecessary with a slope below 2.5%.
Is the trench drain really dispensable?

in theory, you won’t need a floor drain; however, if water ever gets into the garage, you will miss having one. Permeable paving is only effective if the joints and surface are regularly maintained. If dirt or debris accumulate and harden, or if the joints become overgrown in places, a floor drain would be advisable after all.
