ᐅ GAS / SOLAR or GAS / Ventilation with Heat Recovery

Hello,

We currently have an offer for a new build.
For the heating system, we were given the following options:

Gas/solar
or a ventilation system Lunos-E2 with heat recovery, which is 1000.- cheaper (compared to solar).

Now I’m quite uncertain about which option is better.
However, I tend to choose the ventilation with heat recovery (instead of gas/solar with basic ventilation).
Price is not the deciding factor.

Any ideas/questions/advice?

Best regards,
M.

That’s correct, it’s pure guesswork because it depends on the overall context in comparison to the respective reference building (Ht’, qp’’). So it makes absolutely no sense to try to compare individual U-values.

That's right, only the planner will probably be able to calculate that properly. At the beginning, my situation was similar. The contractors were also very eager to push solar on me. However, I insisted on a solution without solar, using only gas and a mechanical ventilation system with heat recovery, and made it clear to them that if they couldn't offer that, they were already out of the running. After that, at least three general contractors could provide that.

Feedback from me:

175sqm (1,888 sq ft) urban villa with timber frame construction (wall U-value 0.14), triple glazing, no basement:

Gas condensing boiler WITHOUT solar, but with controlled mechanical ventilation with heat recovery: Achieving KfW 70 is no problem.
