Hello everyone,

we are building with an air-to-water heat pump + photovoltaic system, etc. everything is already decided... 🙂

Now I have received an offer from the utility provider for the house connection.

Electricity + gas. Now the question for me is whether we should install a gas connection or not, since, at least for now, we don’t need it due to the air-to-water heat pump.

What was your decision here? Did you install gas despite having an air-to-water heat pump?

The cost for the gas connection is around 1,800€ (about 1,950 USD), which is quite a lot of money for me.

Best regards

I also have an air-to-water heat pump and solar panels, and no gas connection. Why would I need one?

That's exactly the question... :-)

Switching to gas in XX years?
I just want to see how others have handled this... don’t want to limit our options here.
But the trend is definitely moving toward no gas connection.

I don’t find the offer very attractive either. Our supplier offers gas for 750,- to compete with the heat pump trend. That makes you think. But if the pump is already installed anyway, why bother with gas?

Inactive gas connections are not exactly favored by the utility provider.
