ᐅ Gas boiler in the attic. What are the structural considerations?

Hello,
Does anyone have their gas boiler with hot water storage tank installed in the attic of a timber-frame house?
We are supposed to install the Solvis Max, weighing about 1 ton (2,200 pounds), in the attic of our timber-frame house.
Structurally, we were told the attic counts as the third floor. What experiences have you had regarding structural issues, etc.?
