I’m not quite sure whether to install a fence or plant a hedge in our newly designed garden.
The advantage of a fence is, of course, that it only needs to be painted, not constantly trimmed like a hedge 😡
On the other hand, I would really like some privacy from nosy neighbors 🙂 and that clearly gives the hedge an advantage.
Please give me some advice. My wife and I just don’t know what’s better... maybe someone here has a good idea for a compromise...

Gartenbauer1 Jul 2008 16:27How large is the garden you want to enclose? If it is very large, it might be too labor-intensive to plant a hedge all around. Maybe you could simply combine a fence and a hedge...

Maier GmbH3 Jul 2008 21:52Like everything, both hedges and fences have advantages and disadvantages. A fence needs to be painted, a hedge needs trimming... some maintenance is required in both cases. I would choose a combination of both. Especially in areas bordering neighbors, I would plant a hedge there. But get advice on which plants are best to choose.
