Helen.reumann15 Aug 2024 09:35Hello everyone,
We need a new garage roller door. Our old garage is very narrow and low (2380mm wide and 1900mm high) (7 ft 10 in wide and 6 ft 3 in high). It was built by the previous owners in the 1970s. We now only use it as a bike storage.
We have received a quote for a Hörmann RollMatic T and another for a Heroal RD 55. The total price is almost the same at just under 4300 EUR, including removal and installation. Both in RAL 9016 anthracite, as our roof will be anthracite.
Hörmann RollMatic T
The roller door alone costs 2500 EUR, with a triple DuraBelt to prevent wear damage during rolling up and down. Removal and installation cost about 1000 EUR, plus a remote control keypad for 95 EUR.
Heroal RD 55
The roller door costs only 2130 EUR, even including an external emergency hand crank. Plus a remote control keypad for 90 EUR, with 300 EUR for removal and 1000 EUR for installation. There is no DuraBelt-like mechanism to minimize wear during rolling up. However, Heroal claims that the very narrow slats of just 55mm (2 in), with a two-layer thick coating, are extremely durable and much better than the extra film coating used in the past. The craftsman offering the Heroal is a long-established local and I generally trust him to be more careful with removal and installation.
So now I’m wondering if anyone with a Hörmann or Heroal garage roller door could share their experiences. The door can be opened and closed up to 16 times a day, as there are four of us, all cycling to school or work at different times. I am especially interested in your experiences regarding wear and tear. Perhaps you also have information on spare parts availability and delivery. Many thanks!
Best regards
