Hello everyone,
What do you have installed in your front door? An A-opener or a motorized lock if a fingerprint reader is included?

For those who find the security provided by the two mechanically locking hooks (in addition to the door latch) sufficient, the A-opener is naturally a better choice. As you mentioned yourself, the latch is no longer turned, but there are instead two mechanical hooks. This meets the requirements for RC2; I’m not sure about higher levels. The home insurance also accepts this. Works for me.
For the average homeowner concerned about security, this is probably more about peace of mind.
So far, in our rental apartments, we also only secured the front door with the latch (meaning it wasn’t locked) for years, but now in our house, my wife feels more comfortable being able to lock the door, especially when she is alone.
That’s something to keep in mind.

When building our house, we also spent some time researching doors, security, security locks, safety glass, security lock cylinders, automatic locks with A-openers, proper motorized locks, and alarm systems.
In the end, the price difference between an A-opener and a proper motorized lock wasn’t that big anymore, so we ultimately decided on the fully motorized solution.
We bought our aluminum door from a well-informed dealer who was able to show us both types of locks.
The door is from "Kompotherm" and we really like it. The installation went perfectly.
For over a year now, we haven’t needed keys thanks to the option of opening the door with the built-in fingerprint reader.
The motorized locking mechanism is always monitored by an Abus alarm system when we’re away. Both control units are wired together.
We are very satisfied with the entire system and glad that the door shop pointed us to this solution. Unfortunately, there is too little information about these comfortable and secure options in trade magazines, and the advice from some “specialist dealers” could be better.
Best regards

I agree with you that turning a key to lock and unlock the door remains a good and reliable solution – but you actually have to do it!
However, when it comes to locking, unfortunately some of my three dearly loved family members often forgot to do so with our old apartment entrance door. And once you’ve experienced how quickly an unlocked door can be opened with the simplest means, having an electronic assistant feels quite reassuring and means you don’t have to keep reminding the family all the time. That saves a lot of stress.
