ᐅ Experience with Water-Bearing Fireplace vs. Conventional Wood Stove

Adonis01Good evening,
We are still in the planning phase and keep wondering whether a water-carrying fireplace makes sense and if the effort and cost are justified.
I would like to hear your honest experiences and get some good advice...
Current setup: We are building according to Ennef 2016 standards with a Wolf gas condensing boiler and solar panels plus a 300L (79 gallon) hot water storage tank.
Our fireplace is located with its back to the utility room, which is very close to the water tank and boiler.
Please help me dispel any false assumptions.
When I come home or am at home and know that I’m planning a bath or that it will be cold at night,
can I realistically feed enough energy (heat) from the fireplace into the heating system if the wood is basically free, or is the effect marginal?
Can I just keep the fireplace burning alongside the system or occasionally add another log? Or is the extra cost for the fireplace, installation, circulation pump, etc. simply not worth it?
Regards,
Mars

Hmm, once again: No, it’s not worth it. The entire control technology and the additional investment will almost certainly consume any potential savings because you need more than just an extra circulation pump.
And if you invest a bit more, you’ll have a sauna included, which then requires ventilation to remove the humidity.

Take a look here I already used the search function, but the forum is so full that I couldn’t find what I was looking for.
Thank you very much, I think my illusion has been dispelled.
We will rather stick with a regular fireplace.
