Dear forum community,
we are a bit uncertain about our windows. Originally, anthracite-colored (outside) PVC windows were planned for our house. However, I have heard from friends who are currently building that several window manufacturers advised against this. The reason given was fading after a few years. Additionally, we found reports online about warping issues. Can you confirm these experiences? How do your windows look after 15 years? I am not very eager to end up with faded windows that may be difficult to close after a few years. By the way, our windows will most likely be from the company Knerr Südfenster.

Thank you very much for your feedback

Yes, I had almost expected that and was looking for it yesterday as well. I must have been too inexperienced, as I couldn’t find anything!

Still, thanks for your answers. Do you maybe have a link for me?

No, not on an iPad. But I took out the silver tablet: when I enter _plastic windows_, I find posts related to your question.

I’d like to join in here with a more general question.

We are building a semi-detached house. The first half is already completed. It has a white exterior with anthracite-colored windows. We are now considering whether to go with the same white-anthracite combination or choose a gray facade with white windows.

So far, we have only spoken to a window manufacturer. He said white windows are more durable because scratches might show on gray ones. Our argument is that the white exterior might be more timeless in the long run.

What is it like in your new housing developments? Do the semi-detached houses mostly have the same facade? I’m a bit weak when it comes to spatial visualization. Does it look good if the houses have different facades?

I like the idea of using different finishes; for example, on the north side of our house, I plan to add a gray stripe. I will test how it looks in advance using Photoshop.

I don’t like it. When owners of older semi-detached houses renovate differently, it always looks awkward.

We had somewhat older plastic windows, white on the inside and mahogany woodgrain on the outside. Nothing was faded or warped, even though there were very large units, including two lift-and-slide systems measuring 3 meters (10 feet) wide and 1.5 meters (5 feet) high (visible on the far left in the top floor of my profile picture on the south side). Now, we have foil-covered plastic windows for the third year running (dark oak on both inside and outside, which is almost black) and everything is still in perfect condition.
