Good evening
I am looking for a supplier of parquet flooring, called wide plank flooring, made of European cherry wood. Board width approximately 22 to 26 cm (9 to 10 inches). Which adhesive should I use that does not contain toxic substances?
There is currently a textile floor covering installed. Do I need to remove the old adhesive residues, or can I apply the new adhesive over them using a notched trowel? The existing old adhesive is rock hard and difficult to remove.

Hello goldi,

You can find a supplier online. Regarding the other questions:
The glue residues must be removed first; a professional does this using a floor sanding machine with dust extraction.
Modern parquet adhesives should no longer contain truly "toxic" substances; however, improper application of synthetic resin adhesives can still lead to increased emissions.
Water-based dispersion adhesives and reactive resin adhesives generally have very low emission levels and are therefore recommended.

I was just about to ask the same question, but I see this topic already exists.

Which European cherry wood is recommended?

How was it installed?

My husband wants to install it himself.

We would appreciate any tips.

Yes, do-it-yourself can save quite a bit of money. Proper storage before installation is important. The material needs to adapt to the room conditions.

Then install it like parquet flooring, at least that’s what I think.

We also decided to install cherry wood flooring. There are online stores that offer this. Just have a look, as I don’t want to advertise any specific sellers here.

Just to add, the price ranges between 25 and 40 euros per square meter (around 2.30 to 3.70 USD per square foot).
