All the home office professionals and people with back issues (like me) are surely familiar with the essential qualities of a good office chair.
It should definitely swivel, possibly with casters, and be very comfortable—no high-back chairs.
Of course, appearance is also important, but in this area, function—that is, ergonomic features and quality—comes first.
We will check out the usual suspects tomorrow in a specialty store, but maybe there is some helpful knowledge here.
The chair will be used several hours daily, so quality is essential.
It is for my wife; I would probably have looked at a "Stressless" chair first... I’m curious to hear your ideas and experiences.

Sitting on a chair is still sitting on a chair, even with a really good chair. And sitting on a chair is ergonomically poor. A good chair only helps to a limited extent.
P.S. For your back, definitely stretch your hamstrings. Practice squatting down without lifting your heels off the floor, and try sleeping on your back, either without a pillow or with only a low one.

nordanney18 Aug 2021 17:16Sedus, Vitra, Steelcase – you can consider them all as brand options. They are quite similar. Try them out and sit on them to test.
In the office, we have a Sedus, don’t ask me which model. At home office, I use a Steelcase Please V2. Both are equally comfortable. The Steelcase cost about 600€ (approx. $650).

No, people usually don’t go there for that. In larger cities, there are always office furniture suppliers where you can go to try out the chairs. Ideally, you visit twice, about two weeks apart, to test them again. If you find the same chairs comfortable and suitable on both visits, then you have found YOUR office chair.
I also recommend the company Dauphin.
