All the home office professionals and people with back issues (like me) are surely familiar with the essential qualities of a good office chair.
It should definitely swivel, possibly with casters, and be very comfortable—no high-back chairs.
Of course, appearance is also important, but in this area, function—that is, ergonomic features and quality—comes first.
We will check out the usual suspects tomorrow in a specialty store, but maybe there is some helpful knowledge here.
The chair will be used several hours daily, so quality is essential.
It is for my wife; I would probably have looked at a "Stressless" chair first... I’m curious to hear your ideas and experiences.

I have only used stools for over 20 years. It has been best for my back, alongside sometimes working while standing.

I bought an electric height-adjustable desk along with a matching chair and stool from the well-known Swedish furniture store, and I am very satisfied with my choice 🙂 There are certainly higher-quality furniture options available, but you always need to consider how often you use your home office. Right now, I’m sitting at the dining table with my computer, and I only use my office for work-related tasks.

I swear by Löffler chairs with a movable seat surface. For my home office, I bought one along with a height-adjustable desk. Unfortunately, my office workstation is not as well equipped.

I can only recommend not sitting in a chair all day. Those who work at a computer and have a laptop can change locations at home. This not only moves the body but also stimulates the mind. I don’t have a dedicated home office, but I have a good variety of places that are suitable for work—for communication by voice and/or video, for screen work, or for thinking (when the screen stays off).

Well, I actually have to work from my home office. Due to data protection reasons, I am not allowed to work in the garden or anywhere else. It probably depends on the type of work whether you are permitted and able to work from other locations. That’s why I bought a good office chair and an electric desk.

I also work from various locations at home. Data privacy must be maintained in the home office as well. Payroll processing in the garden, loan applications at the dining table is not acceptable.
