Hello everyone,
I’m curious about how much noise a timber house makes. Are these sounds very noticeable, or do they become barely audible once you get used to them? How loud should you expect the creaking to be?

Thanks in advance!

Hello,

A timber frame house does not creak any more than a solid masonry house groans.
And Brodbeck is right: the roof structure is usually made of wood, regardless of the building method.

Best regards...

No noises in the framework of a prefabricated house with timber frame construction are to be expected. If any issues arise, sound insulation—especially between floors—is a relevant topic. The quality varies depending on the design and manufacturer, as there are no legal requirements within a single-family home.

While a floating screed reduces impact noise (e.g., footfall sound), this noise can still spread unpleasantly through the walls. Airborne noise can also be an issue in lightweight construction due to the lack of mass, although mass alone is not sufficient for effective soundproofing.
