Hello everyone,
I’m curious about how much noise a timber house makes. Are these sounds very noticeable, or do they become barely audible once you get used to them? How loud should you expect the creaking to be?

Thanks in advance!

Define a wooden house... completely made of wood, or a prefabricated house built with a timber frame?

I mean a house built using timber frame construction.

Have you ever been inside one of those prefabricated houses and listened to the floor? There’s no creaking. Like in solid construction, a screed is applied, giving you the same feel as in a traditionally built house.

I didn’t mean the floor but rather the "framework." Everything is made of wood, and we know that wood naturally expands and contracts...

Hello Bauherrin7,

what do you think is involved in constructing the roof framework in a solid masonry house? Or what do you understand by the term "roof structure"?

Best regards
