I only have one chimney, which already has a wood stove connected to it. Now I want to install an additional wood pellet stove in the living room. Do I need a second chimney for this, or can I simply connect the new stove to the existing chimney?

A chimney serving two stoves should work as long as the same type of fuel is used. Pellet stoves may require a smaller chimney cross-section than a wood-burning fireplace.
Consult the responsible chimney sweeper or inspector, who can provide precise answers and practical advice.

This must be inspected on site by a chimney sweep. We also had to have a second chimney installed. A stainless steel chimney was then erected.

We have a double-flue chimney with a fireplace and a wood stove connected to it. This setup was approved by the chimney sweep. However, regulations may vary from canton to canton. So be sure to check beforehand. You don’t want any unpleasant surprises later.

We had no issues with this, and we have a wood stove, later adding a fireplace. The chimney sweep came on site to inspect the chimney and then gave the go-ahead.

We had the same question at our place. We consulted our chimney sweep master, and he insisted that we had to build a second chimney. We then decided on a stainless steel chimney with the heating installer. It was installed on the outside, and everything works well.

This chimney is also suitable for all types of fuel.
