ᐅ Commissioning a photovoltaic system and charging an electric vehicle.

Hello everyone,

Our photovoltaic system is scheduled to be put into operation soon. I have several questions related to this topic and hope to get some helpful ideas.

1. I am currently dealing with all the tax paperwork. Monthly VAT returns through Elster and so on seem relatively straightforward. Still, does anyone have a link, guide, or website that explains this topic clearly for beginners?

2. The topic of one or two meters for household and heat pump has come up here several times. For now, I have decided to stick with two meters. Since ideally, I want to power both the heating and household with the photovoltaic system, the PV vendor recommended a "power to heat" setup. Does anyone have experience with this and can offer advice? The electrician who will install the system soon was more cautious and wanted to cover only household electricity with the PV system. Which is better?

3. Now, this is a bit off-topic: Since my car has broken down, I am considering getting an electric vehicle. Does anyone have experience with how well charging an EV through the photovoltaic system works? In winter, of course, it’s probably less effective since the car won’t be at home during the day. The wallbox is already ordered. However, I am still unsure whether this makes sense. The car would stay in the garage continuously on weekends, so there should be enough hours to have it fully charged by Monday.

4. Now this is even more off-topic: Since house construction and the upcoming outdoor landscaping are costly, an unplanned vehicle purchase hurts the budget a bit. Since I want to keep my reserves untouched, I’m considering leasing an electric car. Thanks to environmental incentives, the monthly costs should be relatively low. I had an appointment at a dealership yesterday. When I compare their offer with those online, there are sometimes very large differences. Common leasing platforms also offer deals from dealerships, but often cheaper than the local dealer. Does anyone know why there are such differences and whether online offers are reliable? Has anyone leased a car online?

Thanks and best regards

Only if it’s done for very little money. In the last few days, I completed my preliminary registration for Q2. I didn’t time it exactly, but it took less than two minutes. I only adjusted one figure.

Ok. Then I should be able to manage that somehow too.

In return, you get a new ID3, which on the inside is not a small car. Fully family-friendly. Including maintenance. What more could you want?

Your example is for 48 months and 10,000km (6,200 miles). I’m looking for 20,000km (12,400 miles) per year (commute distance) and 24 months. I don’t want to commit for too long since I want to test e-mobility first. Online offers would then be around 300 euros.

You’re not up to date anymore.
As a private individual, you can lease a microcar from 100 euros, and as a business customer (which you will soon be, with photovoltaics), for 50-60 euros, sometimes even zero euros (thanks to subsidies), sometimes for compact class.

But not for an electric car for 100 euros. Ok, with 48 months and 10,000km (6,200 miles) that might work. But since I mostly drive on country roads, I’d prefer a vehicle the size of an ID3, 208, etc. Not a Smart FourTwo.
But I can’t just switch to leasing as a business customer because of the photovoltaic system, can I?

So has someone already contacted a dealer through one of the well-known platforms and even leased a vehicle there?!

If you feed electricity back into the grid, then yes. In that case, you are considered a commercial operator. You become an electricity producer.

For private use: Id3, 24 months and 20,000 km/year (12,427 miles/year) for 270 EUR.

Personally, I have never leased a car through a dealer on the platforms. However, I know several colleagues for whom this has worked without any problems.
But I have not heard any reports about the return process so far.
That would be the only thing I would be cautious about – that they might cause issues during the return.

So? Where’s the problem? What do you think a purchased car costs you per month?
300 € per month is about €7,000 for two years. That’s not far off from the pure depreciation cost.

Yes, I can basically understand that. When buying, I would, however, go for a used one. The depreciation there is not too high. Tricky, tricky...

Does anyone have information about the Power to Heat circuit? I would currently want to keep 2 meters since the gap between the two rates is about 12 cents.

One meter for everything… no hassle with two basic fees or having only one or the other run through the photovoltaic system… Just use it straightforwardly.

If I may join this topic with a question, as I am currently dealing with the same issue.
My idea is that, when the time comes to get an electric car, to install a storage system for our setup.
Unfortunately, the car would not be connected to the grid while the system is producing energy, since I am at work during the day. The idea would therefore be to install a battery storage that is charged during the day and then charges the car at night when it is in the garage.
This should be possible, right, or am I missing something?
