Hello,

I would like to know your opinions on the topic of photovoltaic systems.
The plan is for a house with 140 sqm (1507 sq ft) with a south-facing roof.
Is financing such a system worthwhile?
What are your personal experiences in this area?
Do you have to feed the electricity into the grid, or is it allowed/possible to use it yourself?
Are there any special incentives or subsidies available?

What disadvantages does installing such a system have (please don’t mention “appearance”)?

I just turn on the microwave regularly so that the magnetic fields dissipate,...

It's already worth it for us.

Unlike the photovoltaic system itself, VAT cannot be reclaimed for the battery storage, as the storage cannot be assigned to business use.

If the system is purchased together with the battery storage, you can reclaim the VAT for the storage as well.
If the storage is bought later, you are correct.

It was just a thought. A friend has had trouble sleeping since they installed such a system (it could also be related to uncertainty about whether the investment will pay off or when).

Generally, you sleep at night when there is little to no photovoltaic electricity production. So, there won’t be a magnetic field at that time anyway.

And for the rest of the time, wear the aluminum foil hat.

I keep coming back to this topic...
However, it only makes sense if I use almost all the energy directly. Therefore, I am considering sizing the photovoltaic system only to cover the basic hourly energy demand of the entire house.
That demand isn’t very high, but since I wouldn’t need a large photovoltaic system for that, even a used bargain from Ebay for a few dollars could be a good investment.
So far, this has been the most interesting idea for me because then I would need no storage or just a small, inexpensive one.

However, it only makes sense if I consume almost everything directly. .

Why is that? The cost of generating electricity with a photovoltaic system is in most cases significantly lower than the current feed-in tariff. The tariff helps you pay for the system. The larger the system, the more consumption you can cover during low-output months in winter. So: maximize your roof space!
