Hello everyone,
In our new build, I want to skip floor coverings in two rooms (a storage room and a workshop) and instead simply apply a coating to the screed. These rooms do not have underfloor heating. The screed was installed at the beginning of July and has been drying since then. As shown in the picture, edge insulation strips have been installed, which I have not trimmed yet. If I simply cut these strips flush and then coat the screed, there will always be a "dirt trap" where the screed meets the edge insulation strip. Therefore, I would like to conceal this transition.

What options are there here? The solution does not need to be visually perfect, as these are a workshop and a storage room. It should mainly prevent the "dirt trap" and be durable. My initial ideas are:
- Melting back the edge insulation strips (using a heat gun) and sealing with silicone (possibly adding some backing material first).
- Mounting a wooden trim on the wall to cover the strip (or are there any plastic profiles that could be used here? Creative and cost-effective ideas are welcome.)
When would you carry out these works? The screed has been drying since early July. For the silicone solution, I would probably wait a bit longer, as otherwise the possibility of vapor diffusion would be completely lost. For other solutions (baseboards), I see this as less critical.
Best regards,
Phil
