Dear all,

We will be installing a mechanical ventilation system with heat recovery, and for various reasons, both the ground floor and the upper floor will have ceiling-mounted vents.

My wife finds the typical round disc vents, where you can see into the duct from the side, terribly unattractive, and I have to agree with her, even though I don’t feel that strongly about it. She would prefer rectangular vents, although the common ones from Helios always remind me of bathroom fans. The more expensive ones from Tecanno look nicer but still aren’t really impressive, especially considering the price.

What kind of vents do you have, or have you seen any nice ones? Are there any technical aspects we should keep in mind?

Thanks and best regards

The Luna from Zehnder?

Without knowing that they were called that, my HSLer has already suggested something like this, and it’s definitely better than those plate valves that look like body piercings with plugs.
However, I would like to see more alternatives, and my wife would prefer something square-shaped...

At first, we installed very expensive and equally unattractive units from Dimplex, which couldn’t even be adjusted. We have now replaced them with Helios units. They are affordable, easy to install, and offer good adjustment and filter replacement options. I don’t think you can expect a real design award and good functionality at the same time. After all, they are just air vents... Maybe there’s something made of glass out there 😉

@Fuchur Do you remember which ones exactly (you can check)? Did you replace them yourself or have it done?

The Luna has the advantage that the air volume adjustment is linked to a scale, and it cannot be accidentally changed.

Having a scale also means you can adjust the settings yourself and still return to the established air volume.
