Yes, that's true, and I find many things to be overregulated. I also bought a carport from the home improvement store. When it was delivered, my neighbor said I would need a building permit/planning permission. I went to the local authority, and he was right. We had to obtain a building permit / planning permission. But measuring was also important. For that, I hired a surveyor who took the measurements. It cost me 800 CHF, but everything was officially recorded.

The distance to the neighboring property is always a common point of dispute.

The idea with the surveyor is a good one. They can measure the entire plot of land.

But now to the main question: we do not need a building permit / planning permission for a carport from the hardware store.
