If I want to build a carport on my property (modular system from a hardware store), do I need a building permit / planning permission?

You can be sure by briefly checking with the local authority; the construction of a carport might be regulated by a land-use plan or other local regulations.

Hello,

This is how many things are regulated differently in Switzerland. We needed approval from our local authority to build the carport. To be sure everything is correct, just check with the relevant authorities.

Hello,

Yes, that's true, and I find many things to be overregulated. I also bought a carport from the home improvement store. When it was delivered, my neighbor said I would need a building permit/planning permission. I went to the local authority, and he was right. Without the building application, it could have become expensive.

Hi,

We had to obtain a building permit / planning permission. But measuring was also important. For that, I hired a surveyor who took the measurements. It cost me 800 CHF, but everything was officially recorded.

The distance to the neighboring property is always a common point of dispute.

The idea with the surveyor is a good one. They can measure the entire plot of land.

But now to the main question: we do not need a building permit / planning permission for a carport from the hardware store.
