ᐅ Any experiences with purchasing batteries with more than 1 kWh capacity?

FrosistHello,
we are considering using batteries instead of a generator to be prepared for possible power outages. However, all devices with more than 1 kWh capacity quickly cost a thousand euros or more. The question is whether it is worth it. If the grid ever fails, the investment would probably be worth the cost?!

- Duration and frequency of power outages
- Critical loads ("the most important")
- Comfort loads
The freezer chest stays cold for up to 2 hours without power. For 3 days, probably not, but then the lack of heating becomes a bigger issue than a spoiled pizza.

Then here is your answer...
For me, it’s unlikely that there would only be short power interruptions. Either the power is fully out or it’s running. As far as I know, there could very well be local outages. Nationwide blackouts in Germany are expected to be comparatively rare events.

The chest freezer will stay cold for about 2 hours without power. Not much longer for 3 days, but then the missing heating is a bigger issue than a spoiled pizza. Yes, you’re right there. Luxury items won’t be supplied with such a device. That’s logical.
Duration and frequency of power outages – well, who can predict that?
