Good morning everyone.

I have been thinking for a while about changing my door lock, especially since I sometimes forget my front door key.

Today at XYZ, there are two different systems from Burg Wächter on offer for €350 (about $380) and €380 (about $410). Both are electronic locks with a keypad. The whole system is wireless (keypad powered by batteries) and naturally operates via radio frequency or Bluetooth 4.0.

I'm definitely not the type to worry that a burglar could hack into the system with a laptop or something similar to break in. I've been doing online banking over my Wi-Fi network for more than 10 years, and so far, no one has stolen money from my account.

Nevertheless, I would be interested to hear if anyone has installed such a system (manufacturer doesn’t matter) and what experiences they have had.

I need to replace the cylinder of my front door anyway since the original one is still installed, and I’m not really happy with it.

I have a Burgwächter lock on my safe, but the cheaper version, which is also sold as a door lock at LIDL. I'm not very impressed with it. It feels somewhat cheap. You can also quite quickly see which buttons are used the most.

Our model sports club has a lock with a keypad and remote control (without a fingerprint sensor) installed on the club property. This means both the input device and the cylinder are constantly exposed to the weather. We have to change the batteries twice a year, with winter being especially demanding on them.

The keypad is very popular with insects, but other than that, we have been very satisfied for 5 or 6 years.
