Hello,
an architect told us that building according to the HOAI fee structure is at least as cost-effective as building with Dieter Viehbrockhaus or Heinz von Heiden.
He explained that this is because construction companies already factor in their costs for show homes and similar expenses, while as an architect he directly hires the craftsmen and so on.
Is that a fair statement? Or is it more likely an unverifiable marketing claim on his part?
Thank you very much for your experiences and assessments.

Matthew033 Jan 2020 11:04...if you look at the history of her threads, the original poster is only interested in building as cheaply as possible... lately, Ytong (aerated concrete blocks) was her preferred choice. There are no proper responses to follow-up questions, so unfortunately you can save yourselves the effort...

Matthew033 Jan 2020 11:31You are right about that, but it has already been discussed here hundreds of times.
I wouldn’t generally say that the architect is the most expensive. An acquaintance built with an architect who had a network of contractors developed over many years. At least they provided a quote, and that was at a fair price without a construction boom surcharge.
If you are careful with the planning costs and agree on a flat fee instead of the HOAI (Official Scale of Fees for Services by Architects and Engineers), it can definitely be an attractive option.

Do you already have a plot of land?Yes. And it’s a bit unusual, so we’re not sure if we can do it justice without an architect.
