Hello everyone,
I’m new to the forum and would like to share my experience with building a house myself.
For me, building a house on your own is not rocket science. I have been moving around construction sites in all trades for 36 years.
Now it’s time for me to pass on my knowledge to you.
My last house was built in 2018 / 2019 and it is now our holiday home in beautiful MV.
So if you are planning to build your own house as well, I’d be happy to answer your questions.
I’ll gladly post 2-3 pictures! (actually there are quite a few more)
Foundation slab with black waterproofing on a construction site, surrounded by building materials

Building a wall from white blocks with a window opening, wooden supports, fence and tree on the right.

Construction site with aerated concrete blocks, wooden stud frame and unfinished walls

Shell of a house: wood frame construction above concrete wall, scaffolding and blue sky.

Shell built from white concrete blocks with wooden roof structure, surrounded by trees and blue sky.

Shell: visible roof beams, insulation rolls on wooden structure, unplastered walls, large windows.

Exterior facade of a house under renovation; doors and windows covered with blue plastic.

White single-family house with solar panels, large tree in front, garden with fence and building timber.

Two-story house with light facade, balconies and rolling shutters; paved courtyard.

Designed and built by myself.

Best regards to EVERYONE

Great achievement, but at 2000€/m² (approximately 186 USD/ft²) excluding labor, I would have expected golden faucets by now.

Seems suspicious to me!

Why? You only need the certified electrician for the electrical inspection. The rest you can theoretically do yourself if you know how. We did the wiring up to the meter/distribution panel ourselves during the renovation. It’s definitely not rocket science. I just didn’t dare to handle the distribution myself, since I’m still just an amateur...

Size 77 sqm (830 sq ft) / as a gallery house Costs approx. 150k High-quality fittings, tools bought and sold again. I will retire in 17 years. All trades mastered with 36 years of experience. Construction time 12 months including garden

That is really, really great.

Small interior section.

I was just thinking, if you want, you might consider contacting some of the various "home building, living, and DIY" magazines about your house construction … they would probably be interested in featuring an article about it. Of course, only if everything complies with the legal requirements, otherwise you might face issues with the authorities after publication.

Shouldn't the income lost during the year be added to the costs? Nevertheless, great work! If it's done as a hobby or passion, the costs are less important anyway.

The price included landscaping and the land.
