Hello everyone,
I’m new to the forum and would like to share my experience with building a house myself.
For me, building a house on your own is not rocket science. I have been moving around construction sites in all trades for 36 years.
Now it’s time for me to pass on my knowledge to you.
My last house was built in 2018 / 2019 and it is now our holiday home in beautiful MV.
So if you are planning to build your own house as well, I’d be happy to answer your questions.
I’ll gladly post 2-3 pictures! (actually there are quite a few more)
Designed and built by myself.
Best regards to EVERYONE

There are always some spelling mistakes, that’s just how it is. I don’t care at all.....
Water and fish = what more could you want..... can I come over to fish? I just need to renew my fishing license first.

And then the whole thing gains momentum and runs smoothly Exactly. Also a good example of the importance of content over spelling.

Exactly. Also a good example of content being more important than spelling Thank you. I also belong to the group of dyslexics. However, during my time, nobody really cared about it. There was no extended time, and spelling mistakes were not penalized.
Yes, I am interested in that. Not just as a brief note you receive, but I admit, when I’ve had application portfolios full of spelling mistakes, they were immediately set aside. Sorry, in the age of autocorrect, even people with dyslexia can write decent cover letters. If someone doesn’t make the effort, in my opinion, it shows a lack of respect for the recipient. I’m really old-fashioned in that regard. I expect people to make that effort for me. I do the same myself; even when I write here and a word is underlined in red, I look twice to see why, and if I spot a mistake later, still within the 10-minute editing window, I correct myself (I’m not error-free).
But back to the project (which I truly respect, even if I would have chosen different tiles for the bathroom ):
Did I understand correctly? There was already a basement with a concrete slab, and you built on top of it? And the slab was repaired, or what was done there?
And what kind of old building is next door? It looks huge.
My parents-in-law had a summer house by the lake in Storkow. Unfortunately, it was on a west-facing plot and was lost after the reunification. But it’s a beautiful area—I would have liked a holiday home there too.

In the age of autocorrect, even people with dyslexia can write decent messages.... as you can see, *LOL* I’ve long wondered how many times you have to run a spelling "correction" over an initially correct text until the input (for example) "ten commandments" turns into the output "the quick brown fox ..."

Being an East German born in exile, I live here on the Middle Rhine, which is a beautiful holiday area on the one hand, but unfortunately surrounded by people who can’t grasp the difference between a summer house and a garden allotment – even when it comes to developing spatial planning documents.https://www.instagram.com/11antgmxde/

According to the architect and structural engineer, the old drawings of the basement and the foundation slab were reviewed.
The foundation depth, the foundation slab (reinforcement), and a concrete tongue intended as an entrance area had to be removed.
The previous owner had not surveyed the plot beforehand, so the required 3 meters (10 feet) distance to the property line could not be maintained. He also wanted to build a house there but only managed to complete the foundation slab. Apparently, there was a major family incident. Thirteen years later, I acquired the property.
The construction flaws were corrected, and work on the house could begin.
The large building is an old manor house from the 19th century and still has not found a new owner.
It is currently up for sale again.
