Hello,
I have a rather general question:
Is it possible to build a good, acceptable house with around €300,000, assuming I already have €100,000 of that as equity and would take out a loan for the rest?
The location should be near Stuttgart. I am still very inexperienced (I’m young), but I would like to build my own house. So I’m wondering if this would be feasible in the future.
What are your experiences? Do you have any good books or guides for building your own house? I’ve already searched online, but there is so much information that I’m having trouble finding a clear path.
Thank you in advance!

How do you get from the answers to the conclusion that you need at least 500,000 euros for the house alone?! Where did the original poster say that the 500,000 euros refers to the house alone? You do need "a bit" of land as well.

In my opinion, it is possible to buy a house with land for 300,000€ (about 320,000 USD), although this naturally depends on the size and location of the plot. This project also requires a lot of time and effort from you personally.
After we turned away from prefabricated house companies last June and started obtaining our own quotes, comparing them, attending appointments, and negotiating, we realized just how big the price differences can be for the same materials and services.
If my father hadn’t been on phased retirement, we would never have managed it. Overall, searching for quotes took 7 months, and we have now been building for one month. One thing you definitely should not do is immediately accept the cheapest offer. It’s better to take the different prices to reputable companies; if they still have capacity, they are usually willing to negotiate the price further.
Best regards,
Michael
