We heat our house using a ground source heat pump. The corresponding collectors were buried in the ground in the garden. Now we want to build a wall and are wondering if this would affect the collectors. The wall would be directly above one of the collectors.

You should avoid building the wall over the collector (surface collector?). On the one hand, there is a risk that excavation and foundation work could damage the pipes, and on the other hand, the earth pressure from the wall foundation could cause damage. Apart from that, you would also reduce the heat output of the ground collector.

I would never undertake something like that. The collectors in the ground would be damaged by the wall. From an energy efficiency standpoint, a wall in that position is completely inappropriate. Just move the wall or do without it.

I agree with that, as a wall in this location is not suitable. If a wall is built there, it would interfere with normal operations. This could lead to significant restrictions, even damage. It wouldn’t be worth it for me to put up a wall there.

I don’t understand the purpose of a wall at all. If something needs to be separated, it can be done using other materials, such as wooden panels.

I also can’t understand why a wall absolutely has to be built there. It’s clear that it will affect the collector. For its operation, this wall makes no sense at all, so it should be built elsewhere or omitted.
