Hello everyone,
Our ceramic fixtures are mostly set, and now we are moving on to the faucets. We want to have an overall white/gray color scheme in our house with black accents (lighting, stair railings, chair legs, etc.). The idea came up to continue this in the bathroom with black faucets.
There are many different opinions online, ranging from "never again black faucets" to "I’m pleasantly surprised by black faucets." Does anyone have black faucets and can constructively share the pros and cons or their personal experience?
The main argument is usually that water spots are much more visible on black than on chrome; can you confirm this? In other words, do black faucets require more frequent cleaning due to water spots compared to chrome faucets?
We would be very grateful to hear about your experiences with black faucets.
Best regards

When you look at the toilet, you can hardly see any of the other sanitary ware, and vice versa. It has its own small section. The shower is the same. The colors are also reflected as accents in the main area. And the black is brought in through the fixtures, of course. But thanks for the warnings; we will reconsider.

We have a black toilet in the guest bathroom, and I actually get a lot of compliments for it... Well, back when guests were still allowed 🙄 A Ferrari in red and a Lamborghini in cheese yellow also look cool. A Fiat Panda in cheese yellow is definitely a matter of taste. I’d say it’s an attempt without the skill to pull it off.
Before everyone starts tearing me apart this is just my opinion, and of course everyone is free to install toilets in their favorite color. In the past, toilets often came in shades of pink.
I just say that white sanitary fixtures have proven themselves over decades... and you can achieve plenty of individuality through shape and design, plus tiles and furniture.
We have black fixtures everywhere, including the ones from Hansgrohe in the kids’ bathroom. Overall, we are completely satisfied with the maintenance effort. We also have a water softening system installed. I can’t notice any increased effort, whether it’s Hansgrohe, Gessi, or Blanco—no problems at all. If you want to find an issue, a small amount of water collects at the end of the lever on our Blanco faucet. When that dries over time, it forms a lime scale ring. So, two weeks ago (7 weeks after moving in), I sprayed a bathroom descaler on it, let it sit, rinsed it off, and the problem was solved. You can decide for yourself whether that is too much effort.
I find the black flush plates on our toilets more challenging. They really show a lot of fingerprints.

Just without nonsense: a mix is rather poor! The judgment is clearly premature. See first, then judge. Sometimes you fail because of your own imagination and are then surprised how well it actually fits in the original.
When someone says they move and swap the placement of the nose, eye, and ear in a portrait, you might quickly assume it will look bad. In fact, nowadays people happily pay admission to experience Cubism. Looking forward to the pictures.
My grandparents already had a black guest toilet back in the 1970s. I always thought that was great.
