Hello everyone,
we are building with a construction company that includes an architect. Unfortunately, we are completely dissatisfied with the architect... a total disaster!
That’s why I’m asking here instead of him...
Our plans state "attic not suitable for conversion" – what does that mean exactly?
We actually wanted windows on both sides of the gable wall. However, he did not include them.
We planned to use a space-saving staircase for access. This was not shown in the drawings at all, as if the attic is not accessible at all...

The roof will be insulated! There are no regulations regarding this in the development plan.
As mentioned, talking to the architect feels like hitting a wall. He works closely with our builder, so we don’t have the option to choose him ourselves...
From the very beginning, we stated that we want to use the space as a room! So this has been clear right from the start.
It seems quite strange to us why he suddenly left out the windows in the attic...
Could the reason for “not suitable for conversion” be solely because of the space-saving staircase?

Direct hit. Although the architect should have informed you about this, since you expected to be able to use the space. Perhaps it can be declared as storage and then you might still be able to add a staircase and windows into the roof.
Best regards
Dirk GrafeWhy does finishing the attic affect the number of full stories of the top floor? I don’t quite understand the connection.
