Hello everyone, I plan to assemble several Billy shelves from IKEA and wonder if there are any special tips or tricks to make the assembly as quick and efficient as possible. I am familiar with the instructions, but often there are certain tricks that can save a lot of time, especially when building multiple shelves in a row. What are your experiences, and are there any tools or a specific order that make the process easier? Thank you in advance!

Thank you for the helpful tips so far! It makes sense to have the tools ready and to sort the parts. One more question: Is there a specific order for assembling the Billy shelves that could save time? Or do you always follow the instructions exactly?

That's brilliant! 🙂 Personally, I assemble the back panel and the carcass first, then the shelves. You can fix the back panel a little later, which makes handling easier! Just give it a try; it makes the assembly much smoother!

That's right, installing the back panel last really saves time and frustration! If you are building several shelves, I recommend finishing one shelf completely before moving on to the next, otherwise it’s easy to lose track.

I agree completely. Sometimes you lose patience when the back panel has to be installed immediately. I would also recommend carefully reviewing the instructions again if you’re unsure – that helps reduce pressure.

Basically, it is sufficient to follow the instructions step by step. However, it is worth paying special attention to the precise alignment of the drill holes and ensuring the parts are straight. This prevents issues that could delay the assembly later on.

I’ll just add: If you set the cordless drill to a low speed, you avoid broken screws or wood splinters. This way, everything holds better and you prevent delays.
