Hello everyone,
I have a problem: for the interior finishing, I would like to apply a ready-to-use silicate paint directly onto the wall in the new bedroom and children’s room (in my opinion, the plaster is gypsum plaster, which is quite soft). Does anyone have experience with this? I know that pure silicate paints don’t adhere well to gypsum plaster. The painter back then applied some kind of acrylic primer (solvent-free). In the other rooms that have been finished for a while, there are already textured plaster, woodchip wallpaper with silicate paint, and vinyl wallpaper (which is now going to be removed).
Regards and many thanks,
barrabez

Edit: As an alternative, you can also consider whitewash paint; it works too but is a bit more difficult to apply.

This is what Hornbach says about a silicate interior paint: xy
Silicate paint is a white, matte mineral paint designed for high-quality wall and ceiling coatings throughout living areas, schools, kindergartens, public buildings, and heritage conservation. By bonding with a mineral substrate (silicification), it creates particularly durable and resistant coatings. The elevated pH value of silicate paint inhibits the growth of mold, fungi, and algae. Therefore, using this product provides an effective and completely safe method for designing living spaces. In addition, silicate paint contains no preservatives, harmful emissions, plasticizers, or solvents, making it suitable for allergy sufferers!
• highly vapor-permeable and washable
• excellent coverage
• easy to apply
• odorless
• creates breathable walls and a pleasant, healthy indoor climate
Areas of application
For interior use. Suitable for new and old sound substrates such as lime, lime-cement, cement plaster, concrete, as well as for repainting old, intact silicate and mineral paint coatings. Also suitable for all common interior plasters, gypsum, drywall panels, textured wallpaper, and for repainting intact, matte old coatings based on dispersion (emulsion) paints. For embossed and textured wallpapers made of paper, a test application should be carried out.
