Hello everyone,
We applied red lime felt plaster with a 1mm (0.04 inch) grain size in two rooms, partly over gypsum plaster and partly over red lime base plaster. It all looks great.
Now I’m looking for a good silicate paint that is also affordable. Could you recommend paints based on your experience?
Prices vary from about 30€ to several hundred euros.
I would appreciate any recommendations.
Best regards,
Olli

Alligator Kieselit-Bio-MineralWe had that one too. Great color at a reasonable price. However, the color fades quite quickly.I ordered the paint and found out that this paint is not a true silicate paint. I need to paint the ceiling as well, which was previously painted with standard dispersion paint. Genuine silicate paint wouldn’t easily adhere there.
However, the walls won’t undergo any silification process either. Now I’m unsure again. Is silification necessary? What exactly is its purpose? Is my plaster more vulnerable with the alligator paint?
Kind regards
Olli
