Hello, we want to avoid installing an in-wall radio and have considered a radio without cables that plugs directly into the socket. This meets our requirements (does not take up space in the bathroom...) and is also flexible. We thought something like this would be easy to find – but so far, the only socket radio we have found is the ubisound. Are there any alternative ideas here for devices in this category?

And what can the UBISOUND do?
DAB radio
FM radio?
Internet radio?
Bluetooth from a smartphone?
UPnP from a server?

I just found out that Gira also offers a smartphone docking station in addition to the UP radio, which can be connected to the speakers. This way, you can listen to your favorite music via Bluetooth.

I use an iPod touch combined with a small Bluetooth speaker. This obviously provides much better sound quality than a built-in wall radio. The iPod is placed in a docking station that plugs directly into the power outlet. The Bluetooth speaker is located on the bathroom cabinet.

Addendum:
Voice control makes it interesting. You don’t have to touch the device. You could also have it announce appointments or ask about the weather. Just a gadget after all.

Then you don’t even have peace when showering or going to the bathroom anymore!

I also use a combination of a smartphone and a Bluetooth speaker (Bose Soundlink mini). In my opinion, it doesn't get more flexible than that, and the sound quality is excellent.

It doesn’t really fit in the bathroom due to increased humidity, but in case anyone is looking for something for the kitchen:

We placed a Samsung Galaxy Pad on top of our refrigerator (I think there was a small stand for it as a promotional item). This way, I can listen to internet radio via Wi-Fi (mostly in the mornings or while cooking when needed) and quickly look something up online if necessary.

The only thing I still haven’t managed to do: I wanted to transfer my recipe collection from the laptop to the tablet. Sort of like an electronic cookbook to keep close to the stove. But somehow, other things always take priority. Well, there’s still some time. The tablet has only been there for about a year so far.
