Hello, we are considering placing the air-to-water heat pump about 2 meters (6.5 feet) sideways behind the carport of our new semi-detached house (see view of the air heat pump, blue box). The exhaust side would then face the garden (see arrow) and not against the prevailing wind direction. The minimum distance to the neighbor of 3 meters (10 feet) has not been required in NRW since the beginning of this year. It is still unclear whether a hedge or a wired fence will be placed to the right of the heat pump; the heat pump could also possibly be covered. Is our idea realistic in terms of implementation considering the noise development? Unfortunately, it is still an uncovered niche.

I am also considering placing the outdoor unit of the air conditioner on the carport roof, if it is a flat roof. We had our air conditioning outdoor unit there.

- you cannot hear it at all
- it is out of sight, so the neighbors’ children don’t think about throwing stones on it
- it stays completely clean inside. At the first heating system service, the technician said he had never seen such a clean heat pump, with no leaves or anything inside.
