Hello,

I created a plan for the outdoor areas using the software "Cadvilla" for the landscaping contractor. I would now like to get your feedback or ask for tips here in the forum. The plan intentionally excludes shrubs and similar plants because we want to handle those ourselves. It only shows areas marked as green and non-green (paved). The corner of the house pointing straight down is south.

Is the plot level?

Is there a floor area ratio? Is it being complied with?

The amount of hardscaping seems too high in relation to the size of the property. There is too little greenery and too much stone...

Some things are missing. What are your preferences? What about the neighboring buildings? The floor area ratio has already been mentioned.

A few notes from my side:
- Why is the terrace wrapping around the corner? I would completely remove the section on the right side of the plan, since you probably won’t want to sit directly on the boundary anyway. Instead, enlarge the part on the left side of the plan.
- Why have a 3m (10 feet) wide path along the top side of the house that then narrows to 1m (3 feet)? About 1m (3 feet) is enough to reach the bike shed, and you can easily get through with a bike trailer. Also, you don’t need 3m (10 feet) width for the front door.
- In general, everywhere a paved path has been drawn where you might possibly walk. But there are other options, such as stepping stones, gravel paths, or gravel lawn for wet weather access. For dry weather walking paths, wood chips, bark mulch, or simply grass work well, especially if you don’t have to move heavy equipment through.
- How many cars do you have? The one parking space at the bottom is quite far from the front door.
- Play equipment for the children?
- Planned plantings should be included in the plan. Categories like “tall hedge” or “fruit tree, half-standard” are enough. Plantings need space and cast shade. This should be taken into account in the planning.

Yes, basically. There is a height difference of about 20 cm (8 inches) between the sidewalk and the other side of the plot.

I still need to find that out, thanks for the tip!

Gardening planning works well with colored pencils. Use green scribbles for bushes, dark green for tree canopies. Brown for flower beds, red for paving.
Gray for splash protection, which is completely missing here. With paving near the house, the base of the wall can be damaged.

I think that landscape gardeners would find this sketch quite overwhelming because it’s difficult to interpret.
Personally, I also find there is too much impermeable surface, whether or not it is permitted.
The trash, for example, is well located between the entrance and the bike shed or inside it. And a lawn can be walked on, so some paths are actually unnecessary.
