I don’t know if anyone else besides me enjoys analyzing consumption and numbers related to the electricity and gas price caps and their forecasts, so here is just an attempt:
Forecast: Electricity 2,400 kWh per year, consumption since 06/04/22 at 2,917 kWh
Forecast: Gas 20,000 kWh per year, consumption since 06/04/22 at 52.81 m3 (cubic meters) → converted with factor 10 results in 528.1 kWh
The following is for those who want more detailed information:

Approx. 139 sq m (1,495 sq ft) of living area
Residents are two adults, no children, home all day

Electricity and gas meters have been running since about mid-June 2022
Until September 2022, supply was via temporary contract; since October 2022, basic supply
Special features: sauna (operated once a week using high-voltage power) and home brewing beer (about once a month)
Thermal final energy per sq m: 37.57 kWh/m2a – auxiliary final energy per sq m: 2.87 kWh/m2a – primary energy per sq m: 46.5 kWh/m2a

The surcharge mandated by the government is 2.4 cents and is intended to ease the impact on the companies supplying the gas. So my already increased price will go up again by 31,772 kWh * 2.4 cents = 762 euros per year. Thanks to the coalition government.
Converting to a heat pump is not financially feasible.
The heat pump is supposed to cost around 40,000 euros plus approximately 10,000 euros for modifying the radiators and domestic hot water system.
Heat pump efficiency 400%: 31,700 kWh / 4 = 7,925 kWh * 30 cents = 2,377 euros per year.
Gas forecast max 12 cents * gas saving 20%: 31,700 kWh * 0.8 * 0.12 = 3,043 euros per year.
Heat pump savings 666 euros per year.
50,000 / 666 = 75 years until the initial investment pays off. The heat pump won’t last that long, and neither will I.

Since when have the regulations being passed actually made sense?!
My father-in-law is stuck with an old oil heating system in a five-unit building and already feels financially ruined...
