Hello everyone,
Over the weekend, I cleared about 35m x 2m x 5m (115ft x 6.5ft x 16ft) of hornbeam hedge on my undeveloped plot. By calculation, that amounts to around 350m³ (12,370 cubic feet). It’s probably less if you compress the branches a bit.
I need this space for construction. The hedge will be replanted afterwards, but clearing it was essential for the build.
My question is, what should I do with the material? I could try shredding it with a garden shredder, but that will likely take a long time.
Do you have any ideas? The fire department no longer accepts donations for Easter bonfires. The recycling center also declines due to the volume.
Unfortunately, I can’t just place a container and fill it for collection because my property doesn’t yet allow for that option.
Thanks for your suggestions.

Have you tried posting it as "free to take" on classified ads, for someone who wants to shred it themselves?
In my experience, people pick up anything labeled "free." It might be worth a try to save some money. That’s actually a really cool idea.

Thanks for all the input.
I’ve decided to have my excavation contractor pick it up in a container. 1200€ 🙁
However, it all needs to be removed quickly because I already have plenty of requirements from the tree protection office in Hamburg.
The alternative would be to rent a large chipper. Not feasible on short notice before the restricted season in my area.
The recycling center in Hamburg only accepts 3sqm (about 32 sq ft). Not more, even for a fee. Unbelievable!!
Why do you still have to observe the restricted season for the hedge? It’s already been cut down, right?
We took our fir tree (a large tree) to a local farmer who was already removing the hedge. That can also be processed through the chipper.
Is there no green waste collection point available in your area instead?

He basically means that he can’t get a rental unit because they are still on long-term leases. I see...
Although, in some cases, you might be willing to drive 50 km (30 miles) if the alternative costs €1209. I would even drive 150 km (93 miles) in that situation.
