Hello everyone,
Over the weekend, I cleared about 35m x 2m x 5m (115ft x 6.5ft x 16ft) of hornbeam hedge on my undeveloped plot. By calculation, that amounts to around 350m³ (12,370 cubic feet). It’s probably less if you compress the branches a bit.
I need this space for construction. The hedge will be replanted afterwards, but clearing it was essential for the build.
My question is, what should I do with the material? I could try shredding it with a garden shredder, but that will likely take a long time.
Do you have any ideas? The fire department no longer accepts donations for Easter bonfires. The recycling center also declines due to the volume.
Unfortunately, I can’t just place a container and fill it for collection because my property doesn’t yet allow for that option.
Thanks for your suggestions.

Really check out commercial landfills. They accept this kind of material by the truckload, or by EKA as I already mentioned. There’s no way I would pay €1200 to dispose of it! Our nearest major landfill is 10 km (6 miles) away, but they accept everything up to asbestos. They also take green waste cheaply because they resell the processed material. You live in Hamburg, so there must be something like that there as well. All the construction sites, companies, and private individuals bring their stuff there too.
And how sure are you about the 350 cubic meters? That seems quite a lot to me. You just calculated 35 x 2 x 5, but the frame is clearly smaller. And of course, you don’t dispose of the timber, meaning the logs, but sell it cheaply as firewood (because the buyer still has to dry and split it).
