The attentive user knows that I am not only referring to my gas price increase. See https://www.hausbau-forum.de/threads/gaspreiserhoehung-zum-1-1-2022.41836/
The switch was successfully completed on 01.01.22 (January 1, 2022). Tomorrow, the direct debit authorization will be signed and sent.
But today we received an email from the old supplier: they are terminating our contract as of 02.12.2031 (December 2, 2031) and stopping the supply immediately.

We hereby terminate the existing gas supply contract between us as of 02.12.2021 (December 2, 2021). On this date, we have stopped the supply of gas.

If you have received a price change from us with effect after 02.12.2021 (December 2, 2021), please consider it invalid.

As you may have seen in the media coverage, we have been facing an unprecedented price explosion at the European energy trading markets for several weeks, caused by an extraordinary combination of various factors.

The situation on the European natural gas market is particularly drastic. Recently, the gas prices for deliveries during the upcoming winter period have spiked by more than 400% on the procurement markets at peak levels.

From now on, we are insured by law... uh... forcibly supplied — basic supply and legally guaranteed.

A Nibblonian should generally have no problems with the power supply.

Unfortunately, my heating system does not support dark matter. The district heating comes from the VW power plants and is still based on hard coal (also quite a dark matter) but is currently being converted to natural gas.

Comparison prices:
District heating
6.512 ct/kWh
36.56 €/kW/year (supply)
80.68 €/year (meter)

Electricity
26.79 ct/kWh
7.83 €/month
(green electricity, annual contract, price guarantee until 12/31/22)

At the moment, it is difficult to compare because all providers are currently or in the near future making price adjustments. We are among the "lucky ones" who have a Grünwelt contract and are falling back into the basic supply tariff. A quick check on well-known portals shows that, as of today, it is significantly cheaper than the offers usually made for a new contract. Suppliers are cautious after past experiences and initially add a substantial margin to new contracts to avoid miscalculations like those in 2021. This is understandable from an economic perspective. However, it is essentially speculation that shifts the risks onto the customers. As long as everything runs smoothly, the cash register rings. If things get difficult, the contract is simply canceled.

I now have a similar problem with my parents.
Grünwelt is insolvent, and new contracts are currently only available with significant surcharges. I will probably switch to the basic supplier for a few months and then sign a new contract as soon as the situation eases. I don’t want to commit to an overpriced annual contract right now.
I still hope that Nordstream 2 will eventually be granted an operating license ...

Annalena remains opposed. This will take some time.

10,000 kWh in one month in an almost new building is nonsense.

...or it could be the screed drying program.
