Thanks for your advice. Since they wouldn’t have been “true” divided lights but rather internal muntins, I’ve gradually accepted that the windows will be without any grilles—it’s probably more up to date anyway. So far, I had successfully pushed aside the thought that internal muntins don’t look quite as good, but now I’m bringing that thought back to the front. ;-)
Because we are building a prefabricated house with a timber frame construction, adding shutters afterwards is not simple; it seems possible but quite complicated. I have almost forgotten that original wish as well.
I know I will like the house anyway, and we will feel comfortable and happy there— even if we started out as tigers and ended up as doormats. 🙂

It is best to plan from the start that the shutter rails run exactly there, or that reinforcements are provided. Similar to awnings, canopies, etc.

I thought raising the ceiling and adding muntins would still be possible? That’s a shame.

No shutters either?
Talk to a manufacturer and have the necessary wood components, reinforcements, and anchors installed now.
