Hello

I am currently in the process of buying a house.

New build, 147 sqm (1580 sq ft) + 45 sqm (484 sq ft) basement
KfW 55 standard
Basement is heated

Basement rooms: laundry/utility room, storage room, and probably a home gym or storage room (more likely a home gym)

The standard heating in the basement is low-temperature radiators.
For an additional cost of about €2600, the entire basement can be equipped with underfloor heating.

What is better for the basement? Is the extra cost for underfloor heating worth it or not?

What are the advantages and disadvantages of both heating systems?

I understand it as meaning that the return temperature must always be below 50°C (122°F).
The system has to be efficiently designed if it is to receive the KfW 55 certification.

District heating/remote heating already has a theoretical advantage by default, which does not necessarily translate into an efficient heating system or low heating costs.

Is it possible to use the underfloor heating system for passive cooling during the summer?

With a supply temperature of 60°C (140°F) mixed down to 30-40°C (86-104°F)? Cooling would probably only work if the outside temperature is around 50°C (122°F) ;-)

I definitely want to keep the option open to exit the local heating contract after 15 years.

Which heating technologies would be available to me then?

Basically only the air-to-water heat pump, right?

I don’t have a gas connection.

If I switch to a heat pump, it is definitely an advantage to have underfloor heating in the basement as well, isn’t it?

Does anyone know how underfloor heating works with local or district heating?

Does the water stay in a closed loop inside the house, with only a small amount of fresh hot water added as needed to maintain the temperature?
