Hello dear forum,

we can’t decide whether to choose the dining table measuring 2 m x 1 m (6.6 ft x 3.3 ft) or 2.20 m x 1 m (7.2 ft x 3.3 ft).

We would actually prefer if there were 3 chairs on each side and none at the head or foot of the table. However, the chairs can’t be pushed under the table because the table legs get in the way. That’s why we’re unsure if the table with the chairs will take up too much space. The chairs are 60 cm (24 inches) deep. The table is positioned so the chairs are on the west and east sides.

What do you think??

I can also highly recommend an extendable table. We have one where the legs extend as well, which means no loss of stability and virtually unlimited space. Not once regretted it. It is 2.20 meters (7 ft 3 in) long and can be extended by either half a meter (1 ft 8 in) or a whole meter (3 ft 3 in).

It’s just from the furniture store and a bit blurry, but this is roughly what it looks like.

@Gelbwoschd: The table definitely looks heavy, and it was also on our list.

Then we came across a local manufacturer (about 150km (93 miles) away, but close to my old home). There, we chose a table with a basic length of 2m (6.6 ft), which has a sliding extension on one side with 2 x 50cm (2 x 20 inches) and a drawer extension on the other side with an additional 60cm (24 inches). Basically, if you have the space and want flexibility, I can only recommend an extendable table.

I need more solid arguments, please. My wife is against it! I don’t think she fears structural instability or anything like that. She would actually prefer a tree trunk table anyway...

I often don’t like the look of extendable tables. But this one looks quite nice. Do you maybe have a link or an exact name for it?
